Caleb’s tractor “broke down” (in other worse he rode it until the battery gave out). Luckily Caden was innovative enough to come up with a solution. Dad may have helped with tying the rope on, but it was all Caden’s idea.

So a brief delay in finishing the trip report. I made Jennifer a Disney Memory book of our trip for mother’s day, so I knew I had these memories written down and would eventually get it online.
Tuesday we went to Epcot. We got Fastpasses for Soarin’ (a multisensory attraction that simulates a peaceful hang-gliding flight over California), then rode The Seas with Nemo & Friends, and spent some time in the viewing the massive aquarium that holds one of the largest man-made ocean environments in the world.
Next we headed to The Land Pavilion and watched the Circle of Life short film, followed by riding Soarin’. We had a late lunch at Via Napoli, at Italy in Epcot’s World Showcase then stopped at Spaceship Earth on the way out of the park.
Once back at the hotel, we rested, then enjoyed the Bay Lake Tower pool and water slide. Caden initially didn’t want to go down the water slide the second time, but after trying the “kiddie” water slide and proclaiming that “it is too slow daddy” we insisted on going down the regular water slide at least 3 more times.
We spent Tuesday morning and Thursday evening at Epcot. Caden loved riding the monorail to Epcot. The Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival was being held, so there were character topiaries throughout the park .
Wednesday morning we ate breakfast in Animal Kingdom at the Tusker House with Donald Duck and Friends, followed by the Kilimanjaro Safaris and Expedition Everest. A little time with Fossil Fun Games, the TriceraTop Spin, Dinosaur and then back to the room for naps.
We went to Downtown Disney and met friends that live in Orlando for supper at the Rain Forest Cafe. While the food was ok, the fellowship was great!
Thursday morning we tried out Typhoon Lagoon, one of Disney’s two water parks. They had a huge kiddie area, and we loved the lazy river which flows around the entire water park. In the middle of the park is a huge wave pool, and the boys loved the waves.
After an afternoon nap, we went back to Epcot and had supper at the Chip ‘n Dale’s Harvest Feast at The Garden Grill in the Land at Epcot. The restaurant rotates durning dinner allowing scenes from the Living with the Land attraction.
The food was really good and we would recommend it.
We started Friday morning with a Supercalifragilistic breakfast at 1900 Park Fare with Mary Poppins and friends, which included Alice from Wonderland, the Mad Hatter, Winnie the Pooh and Tigger.
We went to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. We got FastPasses for Toy Story Mania, then headed to Star Tours, taking a detour for the Studio Backlot Tour and “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” Movie Set Adventure (playground).
Neal and Caden rode the re-imagined Star Tours, then pizza at Pizza Planet, followed by The Great Movie Ride. Jennifer and Caden rode Tower of Terror and Caleb took a power nap.
We ended the day at the park with Toy Story Mania, an amazing 4D action ride that has to be experience to be truly amazed.
We went back to our room, rested, then went to Magic Kingdom one last time and stayed until the fireworks were over.
On Saturday we took our time leaving, it was 12:30 pm before we left WDW. We stopped by Saratoga Springs Resort on our way out to do a little shopping. They have more Disney Vacation Club merchandise than any of the other resorts.
What a year! It has been a good one but a really, really busy one for the Breedings! The most exciting news of this year was the birth of Baby Y (aka Caleb Gene Breeding). Some will remember that Caden was affectionally known as Baby-X until we figured out a name for him (at 2 days old, ha!). The Gene connection: my grandfather was Eugene Stroud, my Aunt Betty Jean, and my sister, Karen Jean.
In preparation of Caleb arriving, we moved Caden to our “guest” bedroom. We didn’t want to give up the queen size bed, but we wanted him to have room to play, so we built a Disappearing walled bed. During this prep time I kept telling Jennifer, “I’ve got time, Don’t I?” ha! ha!
Caleb was born on March 1, at 11:15 a.m. and was 7lbs, 7 oz and 19” long (only 29 inches away from the elusive 48” at DisneyWorld! ha!)
He had a little problem expelling all of the fluid from the lungs, his color wasn’t great, and his respirations were a little fast as well, so off to the NICU he went (just the one in the hospital, no transfer this time to another hospital). He hung out there most the day and as of 8 pm that night, he had been released on “probation” to the regular nursery. If he behaved he could stay there, if not, he would be sent back to the NICU. We’ll he behaved and has been fine ever since. Photos are here and here!
So if having a new baby wasn’t life changing enough, Neal took a new job with Donnie Bell Design on April 11, 2011 as a web programmer, leaving his job as the Director of Information Systems for the Division of University Advancement at Louisiana Tech University (aka – the computer guy at the alumni center). It was time for a change and he enjoyed the almost 15 years he had at Tech.
Jennifer continues to work for herself through the Early Steps system (as a Special Instructor for 0 to 3 year olds with developmental delays) and she is going back to school in January to work towards an early intervention certification degree. Jennifer also was re-certified in Child Life in July, which was no easy feat.
This Fall Caden started preschool at the Lincoln Parish Early Childhood Center. The first day Jennifer and I took him to school he announced on the way there that “I’m a big boy and do not need you to walk me into my new school.” We encouraged this by parking, both getting out and marching him to his classroom, ha! Of course the second day, I abided by the request (again) and allowed him to go into school all by himself, ha!
A few funny quotes from this year from Caden:
Caden: “Mommy, did you tell daddy?”
Mommy: “yes I did.”
Caden: “Mommy, Daddy and me don’t like tattle tales!”
Mommy: “Caden, why didn’t you get a sticker today?”
Caden: “I didn’t mind just a little bit.”
Caden came into the living room tonight after supper and said “I sure would like dessert now.”
“Girls use a brush and boys use their hands” [in reference to how boys and girls fix their hair]
“I’m not going to sleep ever!”
Caleb is doing great, he is at the early stages of crawling as of this weekend. He crawls about 3 steps forward, then back, then sits down. He really loves Caden (and Caden loves him just as much). He is always reaching for Caden and gets excited when he sees him.
Caleb will get to go on his first Disney trip next year! We are all looking forward to it!
We hope you and your family are doing great! Drop us an email or comment and let us know how you’ve been.
Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year!
Bonus! Watch Caden tell the storys of The Three Little Bears!
Baby Breeding #2 is inheriting Caden’s Dr. Seuss room and Caden is inheriting our former “guest” bedroom. We had we had a really nice big Queen size bed in this room, and we hated to lose it. The solution we came up with was for me to build a Murphy style bed. The one I selected is called Disappearing Wall Bed.
Although it is not 100% complete, it is ready to go. I still have some touch up paint a few other minor adjustments to make on the bed. As for Caden’s room, I still have some additional painting and new baseboards that I need to install.
Here are few photos from earlier in the week and yesterday.
Enjoy!
UP is Caden’s favorite (this week, ha!) Pixar/Disney movie.
Here is photo from the movie when Carl, the main character, was a boy. Carl is on the right; notice the hat.
Last night, Caden while we were cooking supper, Caden appeared from his room with the following hat on! Jennifer said she has NO idea where he got the hat from! It is his hat,but she didn’t know where he had found it.
One more for good measure…
Earlier in the day, when I got back from working at our church’s soup kitchen he was watching UP (before his nap–he finished it after his nap). Here was the picture of him watching the movie before the nap.
